I have had two separate conversations about this topic today, so I figured I would pass the info along, and hope that it would serve as a reminder for some of you. (You know who you are…call me!)

I have several friends that believe that every person has a “book inside of them”. Meaning that no matter what your position, or walk of life, you have at least a book worth of information rolling around in your head. (Some of you have a couple of books or more stored in your noggin. Again, you know who you are…call me.) These can be fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi, photographic, how-to, you name it. But they are there, wanting out, and you know it.

I usually like to take that idea a step further and make sure that folks are getting the most out of that “knowledge”. You worked hard to gain it, it should be working for you now right? I say that if you have a book stuck in that brain of yours (or a training class you give regularly, etc.), you also have a wealth of other digital media types at your disposal that can possibly help generate income.

Here are some examples of opportunities to develop “extra” content:

  • Use the content from your book, class, speech, whatever, to develop short training videos to teach other people what you know.
  • Create email lessons that are delivered every month or week about the latest trends in your industry.
  • Roll both of those ideas together and start a training website for your area of expertise.

We all have that creative gene buried somewhere inside us, as well as a lifetime of experience. With the technology that is available today it’s time to start leveraging your know-how and expertise and share that with a world that is hungry for knowledge, and willing to pay for it.
