In my last post, I talked about the section of my digital strategy process where I talk with clients about their branding, how it relates to their core business, and having a brand review every year to make sure everything is still working together. If you missed it, you can find that article here.

The next step in the process is to talk about the client’s business goals. Specifically:

  1. What is the main goal you want to achieve for your business, message, music, product, etc?
  2. Is your goal bigger than you? Is it a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal)? – Click here for more info on BHAGs.
  3. What are your secondary goals?
  4. Are these a result of the main goal or are these steps to reach the main goal?
  5. What do you feel are your most URGENT needs to reach your business goals?

Once we identify very specific targets and goals, then we can move into the ways that we are going to reach those goals using the digital tools that are available. Those tools could be anything from social media campaigns to website redesigns, creating digital products to support the business, or finding new tools to help streamline the administrative side of the business. You would be surprised how many parts of any business is touched, or can be touched, by the digital world.

In my next segment I will dig into helping find your target audience. As always, if I can be of any help defining your digital strategy or just answer some questions, feel free to contact me at
